What to Expect at Your Appointment

Each evaluation includes:

  • A brief intake interview

  • Standardized and clinical testing tailored to the individual’s communication abilities

  • Informal observation and parent/caregiver interview (if applicable)

Appointments typically last between 30 and 60 minutes. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.

Final reports are typically submitted within 5–10 days to Disability Determination Services (DDS).

Important Office Policies

  • Only water is permitted inside the office; please refrain from bringing any other food or beverages.

  • We ask that no more than one support person accompany you or your child to the appointment. To maintain a quiet and respectful environment for all, especially individuals who may be medically fragile, we kindly request that you make childcare arrangements in advance for any children not being evaluated.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

If You Are Unable To Attend Your Appointment

  • If you are unable to attend your scheduled evaluation, please notify your adjudicator (also known as your case worker) as soon as possible. All appointments are scheduled and rescheduled directly through Disability Determination Services (DDS), not through our office.

To request a new appointment, contact your adjudicator by calling DDS in Springfield at 1-800-225-3607. Your adjudicator’s name and extension are listed on the letter you received from the State.

While we ask that you also inform our office at 1-312-219-5901 if you will not be attending, please note that we cannot offer or arrange a new appointment unless it has been authorized by DDS.

If you have questions about your disability claim or the overall application process, please contact your adjudicator directly.
